"With Gus Johnson on the call it's just beautiful."
For the second consecutive year, fan-favorite play-by-play man Gus Johnson will join the NBA on TNT's NBA Playoffs coverage for select games.
Great moments in NCAA Tournament history were matched up with some of the most memorable announcing calls in sports.
Johnson has spent a year balancing classes in Harvard's Advanced Leadership Initiative program with his college broadcasting work for Fox. That will be a large focus in the upcoming Back To School With Gus Johnson 60-minute special on his life and career.
"He allowed all of us to have a poetic license. We could be creative, we could bring our life experience into journalism, into broadcasting, into sports. That was all because of him."
"Analytics, throw'm in the garbage!"
"Let's just say I didn't wake up thinking to myself, 'Hey, I'm gonna call the second half.'"
Gus Johnson felt "under the weather" and had to leave the Nebraska vs. Oklahoma broadcast.
Jason Benetti and Brock Huard will be the No. 2 college football broadcast team for Fox.
Gus is currently a fellow at Harvard's Advanced Leadership Initiative, which means he won't have the time for part-time NFL duty.
"I don’t see a whole lot of diversity in the people who are going to be at microphones"
"He’s a phenomenon and everyone thinks they can be Steph Curry and it just doesn’t make any sense.”
Sometimes the sights and sounds are more memorable than anything broadcasters would say.
