The NFL has preexisting relationships with Skydance, Paramount and RedBird, making an expanded relationship potentially more natural than an equity deal with Disney.
Ten NFL Media members incorrectly predicted the Lions would defeat the Bucs in their Week 2 matchup.
The deal would have seen the NFL take an ownership stake in ESPN while the network took over operations of NFL Media.
The new show will launch August 12.
