Stephen A. Smith will be returning to General Hospital.

First Take debater Stephen A. Smith is returning to the realm of soap operas. Smith first made a cameo on ABC’s General Hospital in 2007, then returned in a larger role as mob surveillance expert “Brick” in March 2016 (seen above), appeared again in that role earlier this year, and will be playing that role once again in some upcoming episodes. As per Ryan Nagelhout of Uproxx, stars have been taking photos on set with Smith and posting them to Instagram:

Guess what people’s Brick is back what can I say two really great guys @mattcohen4real @stephenasmith ??Jim Warren

Here’s some footage from one of Stephen A.’s appearances last year:

We know it’s acting, because Stephen A. admits he was wrong about a sports event. And quite frankly, playing a mob-affiliated character should come quite naturally to Stephen A. by this point. After all, he’s made a habit of dealing out threats to present and past NBA players like Kevin Durant and Glenn Robinson. And he knows all about surveillance; his sources are second only to Chris Broussard’s. And we know Stephen A. can deliver incredible passion on command, whether it’s about crack, weed, or boxing judging controversies. (All of those could conceivably be linked to the mob, too.)

It’s interesting to see Stephen A. featured on General Hospital again, and it’s some nice corporate synergy between ABC and ESPN. “Brick,” though? Are we going to see him shout “I love lamp!” at some point? Or if not, let’s hope that an episode of this arc sees Stephen A. conducting a meeting in a P.F. Chang’s. Some jokes just have to come true.
