Donald Sterling Clipped Hulu Ed O’Neill said he hesitated to play the role of disgraced former Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

For a docudrama based on such a disgusting story, Hulu’s new Clipped series looks great.

Hulu has dropped its first trailer for the six-episode series, which begins streaming June 4. The series covers the story of disgraced former Los Angeles Clippers team owner Donald Sterling, who was banned from the NBA and forced to sell the team after his racist statements and behavior were uncovered.

Ed O’Neill, best known for his roles in Married…with Children and Modern Family, portrays Sterling. Veteran actor Laurence Fishburne plays coach Doc Rivers.

The cast also includes Cleopatra Coleman as Sterling’s mistress and Jacki Weaver as his wife.

The series is based on the ESPN 30 for 30 podcast “The Sterling Affairs,” which was reported and hosted by Ramona Shelburne. In fact, that was the original title for the series.

O’Neill has an award-winning history of portraying buffoons and/or stereotypical rich, privileged characters, so he’s a spot-on match for Sterling. The trailer shows him meddling in the team’s affairs, flashing his ego, cheating on his wife, making racist statements, then denying everything.

It’s definitely not family-friendly entertainment, but unfortunately it all happened. And O’Neill and Fishburne appeared to meet the challenge for their roles.

“Can’t tell if this is gonna be good or a Lakers knock off but Ed O’Neill is the perfect cast,” X/Twitter user Kyle Broughton.
