4) Reformat Fox NFL Sunday

The reformation has already started with the move of Fox NFL Kickoff from Fox Sports 1 to the Fox broadcast network. But even though Fox NFL Sunday is (and has been, for quite awhile) the highest-rated NFL pregame show, it needs a bit more than a fresh coast of paint. Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long have been on the show for 20 years. Jimmy Johnson’s been there for over a decade. Curt Menefee, Jay Glazer, and Michael Strahan are the “newest” additions (along with Rob Riggle, but let’s not go there), and they joined in 2006, 2007, and 2008, respectively.

That’s a long time to keep rolling out the same faces in the same format. CBS shook things up on The NFL Today last year and the changes were pretty well-received. Furthermore, it’s not even as if there aren’t any good analysts in-house to add to NFL Sunday – Joel Klatt and Randy Moss are right there, along with guys like Kirk Morrison, Brady Quinn, and Ephraim Salaam.

It wouldn’t take much for Fox to refresh their flagship NFL show, but fans would really benefit in the long run. It may even lead to a boost after a slow decline of ratings and relevance on Sunday mornings for NFL pregame shows. There’s only so much of Terry, Howie, and Jimmy we can hear before they start repeating the same opinions over and over again.
