Just when you think the CBS Sports brain drain couldn’t get any more serious, it has. College basketball writer Jeff Borzello is leaving CBS for ESPN, following in the footsteps of Jeff Goodman in May of 2013.
After almost four years with @CBSSports, this is my last week. Gave me a shot when I was 24, and it was a great experience. I'll miss it.

I'm happy to announce that I'm joining ESPN as a recruiting insider for their college basketball coverage. Very excited to get started.

This is getting absurd. Borzello, Goodman, Gregg Doyel, Bruce Feldman, Mike Freeman, Scott Miller, Danny Knobler, Brett McMurphy, and Jason Kint (senior VP and GM of CBSSports.com) have all left CBS in the last two-plus years. Who have they added? Well… Jon Solomon, for one. And uh, that’s about it. The brain drain is quite real.
There really aren’t many more columnists for CBS to lose. There’s Solomon, Dennis Dodd, Jon Heyman, Pete Prisco, Jason La Canfora, Pat Kirwan, Ken Burger, and not much else in terms of featured columnists and insiders. Maybe this is going to become their new model – a smaller pool of big name talent, with shorter form content filling out the schedule gaps.
