Last week, we chronicled the loss of top writing talent at CBSSports.com including Bruce Feldman who’s going to Fox. Well, CBS has tapped one writer who could replace Feldman and has plenty of experience in covering college football.

He’s Jon Solomon from the Birmingham (AL) News who announced yesterday that he’s joining CBSSports.com later this month.

Solomon has covered Alabama and SEC football for the past eight years as a columnist and enterprise reporter and has developed many contacts over the years. Before joining the Birmingham News, Solomon covered Clemson for two South Carolina newspapers.

While it won’t totally offset the amount of talent that has left, it does bring one respected reporter into CBS’ fold and helps to re-establish some credibility from Feldman’s departure.

Whether it leads to more hires at CBS or just temporarily plugs the leak, that is anybody’s guess.
