It feels like it’s been way, way, wayyyy too long since we had a funny Mike Francesa clip to share, but we’re here to right that obvious wrong.

This week Francesa took a call about Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys and perhaps moving on to a team like the Denver Broncos, who might be interested in a veteran quarterback to help out Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch. Francesa’s logic was that the Broncos felt fine with their QB situation, especially coming off a win.

The Broncos are not coming off a win, they’re coming off two straight losses. But instead of admitting it when it was brought up and moving on, Francesa invented something else that he didn’t say entirely and blamed the “Twittah Police.”

Apparently all of this amazingly happened over the course of six minutes. Here’s the great video via @RNs_Funhouse:

I guess when you’re talking on the radio for five or six hours by yourself perhaps it’s easy for everything to blend together in one giant blur, but pulling the “I never said that” card after six minutes? That’s a new standard, even for Francesa.

At least this time, Francesa avoided the temptation to prematurely declare any classic rocker’s passing. We better enjoy these moments with the pope while we have them, you know, before our nightmares come alive and Chris Christie replaces him.
