It’s been more than a year since news of a Jesse Owens movie in production was reported. The project really seemed to pick up its pace when Jason Sudeikis and Jeremy Irons were added to the production in July 2014. But now the first trailer has been released for Race, which tells the story of Owens’ triumph at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.

The film, directed by Stephen Hopkins (Lost in Space), promises some impressive visuals, especially for the scenes that take place during the Olympic Games. Give it a look.

Stephan James will play the legendary track star who won four gold medals at the 1936 Summer Games, demolishing Hitler’s visions of Aryan supremacy. Sudeikis plays Larry Snyder, Owens’ coach at Ohio State who mentored him to several world records. Irons portrays Avery Brundage, president of the International Olympic Committee, who convinced the United States not to boycott those Summer Games.

This is the first of three films about Owens to make it to theaters. Anthony Mackie (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) is attached to an as-yet-untitled project, and another film based on Jeremy Schaap’s 2008 book Triumph is also in development at Disney.

Race is scheduled for a Feb 26, 2016 release.
