Colin Cowherd’s new Fox Sports teammate Tom Brady is still considered a flight risk as he openly teases a return to the NFL. But Cowherd sees the significant work Brady is putting in behind the scenes.
Cowherd praised Brady’s effort even four months out from the start of the season in the latest episode of The Colin Cowherd Podcast.
“I’ll tell you, Brady, I’ll probably get in trouble saying this, but Brady, his preparation for broadcasting at Fox, he’s in the building. He was in the building today,” Cowherd said. “The next three days, he’s in the building practicing. Brady is as obsessed about this [as anything]. People don’t understand.”
As Cowherd discussed with guest Nick Wright, it appears Brady may not be sure what he wants to do. As much as any athlete in recent memory, Brady has struggled to say goodbye to his playing career. Even a cushy, lucrative analyst job at Fox hasn’t done much to convince him to hang it up.
Others have reported on Brady’s consistent preparation in the lead-up to the fall football calendar. And on The Pat McAfee Show earlier this year, Brady revealed he’s been working with play-by-play partner Kevin Burkhardt. He was pictured alongside most of Fox’s top NFL broadcasters at a beach retreat this week. If he does call games, odds are he will be ready and excel.
But recently, Brady teased in a podcast appearance that he could return to the league, comparing it to Michael Jordan’s Washington Wizards comeback.
Brady’s future in sports media remains uncertain, but Cowherd has personally seen Brady In the lab as recently as this week. That is as good a sign as any that Brady is expecting to call NFL games this fall.
