The NFL returns to Saturday next week with two games and to promote it, of course NFL Network and CBS are calling it “Thursday Night Football: Saturday Edition.”
This happens every time the NFL plays a Saturday game under the Thursday night television contract. And look, I understand the importance of the #brand and everything, but is this really necessary? Do you really need to call Saturday football “Thursday football on Saturday” instead of just “Saturday football?” This is just so non-sensical for a #brand to overpower what day of the week it actually is.
