After Sunday’s Celebration of the Life and Times of Derek Sanderson Jeter, Most True Yankee Ever, Jeter answered a reporter’s cell phone during a post-game press conference.
Man, poor Walt, getting thrown to the wolves like that. If he didn’t have any context for what his wife was in the middle of, things could have gotten just a tad bit awkward.
The reporter in question was Tara Sullivan of The Record, who was predictably mortified.

Her husband, the aforementioned Walt, told Yahoo’s Big League Stew that he couldn’t hear anything.
By the way – Walt is a Mets fan. That could have upped the awkwardness to 12.
