“The CW will begin its broadcast of NASCAR Xfinity Series a year earlier than planned,” Utter wrote. The decision will pull the races from NBC and the USA Network, who currently hold the rights for the Xfinity Series.
While no reason was provided to Motorsport.com, their report says that an official announcement Thursday will entail the reasoning behind the decision to get started ahead of time.
The network later announced the deal, saying that they will be NBC-produced events.
The CW announced it will take over the final eight races of NASCAR Xfinity Series coverage from NBC Sports this fall.
All of the races will be produced by NBC with a booth of Rick Allen, Steve Letarte and Jeff Burton.

The CW is expanding its sports portfolio in a big way. After they acquired the rights to ACC sports, the network reached a deal with WWE to air NXT, the company’s developmental proving ground brand. The CW will also air NASCAR games, is the home to LIV Golf, and is the broadcast home of the popular Inside The NFL series.
