Zach Johnson has come under fire from golf fans in recent months, and things got even uglier Friday, as ESPN’s broadcast of The Masters caught him cursing at some detractors.

Johnson posted a triple-bogey on the par-three 12th hole. and as he tapped in his putt, some fans sarcastically cheered his misfortune,

“F*** off,” Johnson said.

Johnson, who won The Masters in 2007, has endured the wrath of fans in recent months. He captained the U.S. Ryder Cup team that lost to Team Europe in 2023. At the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February, he confronted fans over their rude behavior, telling them “I’m sick of it,” and then demanding they “just shut up.” (To be fair, Johnson wasn’t the only one critical of the wild atmosphere at that tournament this year.)

Now Johnson is drawing attention for the wrong reasons at The Masters, which is supposed to have a different level of decorum than say, the WM Phoenix Open.

Not surprisingly, fans were not impressed with Johnson’s behavior at Augusta National.

“A tradition unlike any other,” Trey Wingo posted on X/Twitter.

“Zach Johnson has a terrible attitude and this is not the first time this year that he was yelling at fans,” one fan posted.
