There are plenty of fake reporter accounts out there, but it’s rare to see them successfully fool a major media organization. That’s what happened to ESPN Wednesday, though. @UncleChaps changed his display name and profile picture to match Fox reporter Jay Glazer’s (but didn’t change his Twitter name), tweeted that recently-detagged Miami DE Olivier Vernon was going from the Dolphins to the Jaguars, and fooled plenty of media, including ESPN. This led to NFL Live’s Trey Wingo reading the report off live on air, crediting Fox, and throwing to Adam Schefter to discuss a made-up signing:
ESPN’s Adam Schefter later apologized:
Meanwhile, Glazer was laughing about it and referencing ESPN’s sourcing:
Oh man I was just informed of some hijinks, shenanigans, tomfoolery regarding a fake Glaze account and the ripple effect. Takin it all in

Damn I finally get credit from ESPN and it's not even from my real account??? Damn, so close. I kid… but only bc it's funny

Pity Glazer never changed his name to “Sources…”
