during the UEFA Champions League Semi Final, second leg match between Real Madrid and Juventus at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on May 13, 2015 in Madrid, Spain.

The 2014-15 Champions League hasn’t concluded quite yet and FOX is already celebrating some impressive ratings, particularly on FOX Sports 1. Compared to last year, FS1’s audience for the Champions League has grown by 40% and has seen a huge 62% increase in adults 18-49 who have tuned in to the tournament.

The semifinal matches delivered some solid numbers with 704,000 viewers watching the second leg between Juventus and Real Madrid and 530,000 watching Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Both matches saw plenty of adults tuning in (479,000 and 348,000 respectively) despite the midday start times. In spite of the continual protests from Mike Francesa, the Champions League has been an important franchise for FS1 to deliver audiences of significant size during those match days.

FOX is now looking ahead to the Final on June 6th, but there has been some discussion over the two finalists and what Real Madrid’s collapse will mean for the final numbers. The hype surrounding a potential El Classico between Barcelona and Real Madrid for the Champions League was pretty enticing and would have been a monster in terms of ratings, but instead FOX will hope for a big turnout for Barcalona vs. Juventus.
