Famed author and former ESPN/Grantland writer Jonah Keri has already found writing homes at Sports Illustrated, Rolling Stone and GQ and a TV home at MLB Network, and now he’s found a podcasting home too. Keri announced Tuesday that he was taking The Jonah Keri Podcast to Nerdist as part of a larger new Nerdist Sports venture:

In addition to his well-documented writing chops, Keri has proven to be a talented podcaster too. Both his independent podcast and his podcast at Grantland found substantial success. There are plenty of good sports and entertainment podcasts out there, but there’s room for more. Keri’s shown in the past he has a knack for this and a significant following, so the return of his podcast will be welcomed by many. As will the return of the theme song!

It’s also notable to see Nerdist branching out into sports. The company, which grew out of @midnight and Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick‘s Nerdist podcast, is owned by movie company Legendary Entertainment, and includes a massive podcast network, a pop culture newsletter, a performance space and a premium YouTube channel. They have significant resources and are well-known on the culture side on a variety of fronts, featuring everyone from T.J. Miller to Alton Brown, but they haven’t really done much with anything sports-related until now. It’s going to be interesting to see how they enter the sports arena and what role Keri plays there.
