Former three-time All-Star Jimmy Rollins has impressed viewers over the last couple years as a guest analyst on television. While Rollins has made multiple appearances with Fox Sports in the recent past, he will be linking up with TBS this postseason for a full-time studio role for the network’s playoff coverage.

Rollins will join analysts Pedro Martinez and Gary Sheffield in the studio with host Casey Stern to complete the Turner ensemble. He will make his TBS debut on the network’s Sunday MLB coverage this weekend.

More from the network’s Friday announcement:

Jimmy Rollins, the 2007 National League Most Valuable Player and 2008 World Series Champion, has joined Turner Sports as a studio analyst for MLB on TBS coverage leading up to and throughout the 2016 MLB Postseason.  Rollins will team with 2015 Hall of Fame inducteePedro Martinez and nine-time MLB All-Star Gary Sheffield as studio analysts alongside hostCasey Stern for pre- and post-game shows on TBS, the exclusive home of the American League throughout the MLB Postseason.

The TBS studio team will also provide pre-game coverage for the final two Sunday MLB on TBS regular season telecasts (Sept. 25 and Oct. 2).

“I am thrilled to be joining the Turner family,” said Rollins.  “This is a fantastic crew that includes a Hall of Famer, one of the greatest all around hitters of my era and an excellent host.  I am looking forward to learning from their experience and contributing the knowledge that I’ve gained over 17 years in a big league uniform.”

“Jimmy is among the best players of his generation and his championship pedigree, deep knowledge of the game and vibrant personality will be an excellent addition to our studio team,” said Craig Barry, Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer, Turner Sports.  “Shortstops are the leaders of the infield, a position where communication and a deep understanding of the game is essential.  With over 15 years playing from that vantage point at the professional level, Jimmy will add great insight alongside Pedro and Gary.”

Rollins spent 15 seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies before playing the last two years with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox respectively. In 2016, Rollins played in 41 games with the Southsiders before being designated for assignment in June.

Although Rollins hasn’t officially retired, the move to Turner Sports should signal the end of his playing days and the beginning of a career in front of the camera. And given that Rollins has dabbled in television while at the tail end of his playing days, it looks to be the direction he’s ready to commit to going in for the next chapter of his baseball life.
