Grantland Live Madness is returning for this year’s edition of the NCAA tournament. As was the case last year, Bill Simmons and other guests will offer insight and unique, entertaining analysis throughout the day on Thursday, March 20th. ESPN analyst Jalen Rose will accompany Simmons throughout the day’s stream. Michelle Beadle, Cousin Sal Iacono from Jimmy Kimmel Live and Grantland writer Rembert Browne will help preview, review and offer entertaining coverage on the day’s games.
Here’s the Grantland Live Madness schedule:
11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. ET
This one-hour pre-game stream will preview the morning’s games and announce the hosts’ picks.
1:30 p.m. – 2 p.m.
This quick stream will break down the first few games and preview the afternoon and night games.
6:10 p.m. – 6:55 p.m.
As the afternoon games wind down and the night games begin, this 45-minute stream will provide analysis and commentary on the day’s competition.
Grantland’s live coverage got some pretty good reviews the first time around as a second screen experience. To be honest, it’s a bit surprising that more non-rights holders haven’t followed suit to develop online programming that can at least get them a piece of the buzz surrounding big events. The live stream is a great way for Grantland to be relevant on a day that’s owned by Turner and CBS Sports.
