3:30 – All momentum has gone straight to the Pats right now, and they get the ball first. Chargers need to get a stop on this first possession.
This will be funny to no one but me because it’s a local ad, but there’s a hardware store that ends its ads with a loser fatty owner or someone like that in a Kurt Warner Rams jersey, saying “OH YEAH! END ZONE DANCE!” and doing pelvic thrusts. It’s disturbing.
3:36 – Laurence Maroney just got smacked on that return. Jabar Gaffney has a tendency to either go out of bounds before the marker or lose yardage after he makes a catch sometimes, making it a 3rd and six for NE, and Caldwell catches the 3rd pass, but it looks like he’s short. Yes, he is, and the punt team’s on.
3:43 – Rivers throws a great pass to Vincent Jackson, which gets dropped and shouldn’t have been. Chargers receivers have one catch on the day, and the Pats get it back.
Brady gets picked again, and that one is totally on him, as Drayton Florence ball-hawks. Nantz and Simms talked about Merriman being quiet, but the Charger D-line put pressure and rushed him.
Chargers are moving, as Rivers gets another QB sneak for a 1st on 3rd and short.
“Mike Goff with a good block…and whaddaya call that, Jim, when a lineman does that? A flop; it’s a flop!” – PS
3:55 – Rivers misses one deep to Jackson in the end zone followed by a declined penalty, and Sanders takes Rivers to the ground on 3rd down.
Kaeding will be coming on for a FG try. Excuse me, Chargers punt, good job of downing inside the five.
The Jim Mora Coors Light ad still slays.
4:03 – Brady tosses to Brown for a first. Now we’ve got 3rd and 4, and Kevin Faulk gets stopped up on the run, and despite no sacks, the Charger D is stopping up the run today. Pats punt again, and Eric Parker bumbles on the punt return. Scrum to see who’s got it, and…the Pats have the ball.
Brady’s back in charge near the 30, and after an illegal contact call, it’s the 26. Slings one towards the end zone that’s almost pick #3. Next play called off due to offensive PI on a guard (???), and a short pass to Troy Brown to get some yards back. Shaun Phillips wallops Brady, knocks the ball out for a fumble, and there’s some yellow hanging around after the play — and the Chargers get nailed for unnecessary roughness. Drayton Florence tried to head butt.
“Apparently he wasn’t thinking the right things, Jim.” – PS
This game is being defined by penalties right now. Brady underthrows Ben Watson, and Watson had no one near him — he could have walked in for six. They get a few more on a throw to Gaffney, and here comes the field goal unit. 14-13, Chargers.
“Having Geico makes me less of a caveman?” Love it.
4:18 – Gostowski kicks it out of bounds, which means it’s going to the Charger 40, and it doesn’t sound good for Merriman, which isn’t good for the Charger defense.
One More Dying Quail said… Also felt I should point this out: during halftime, I swear I heard Rex Grossman say something about wearing a ring on his finger for the rest of his life.
The Cumslinger should not be tied down. And your other point holds: something is wrong with Brady’s shoulder. As soon as the Pats are out of the playoffs, I’d wager we find out what actually happened.
Rivers to Jackson, then Fantasy Jesus for nine, and then Bad Lo pounds it inside for the 1st down. Rivers then throws a floater that Roosevelt Colvin picks off to end the fourth. That was highly Pennington-like. Next thread, and the Pats look ready to take over.
