Nightcap featuring Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson is quickly becoming one of the more out-of-pocket sports shows out there, and Sunday night’s episode was no different as Sharpe revealed how a date once ordering lobster turned into a quid pro quo for a night in the sackāand then a breakup.
After taking a detour away from football to talk about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, the hosts ended up discussing a viral video of a woman refusing to leave the car with her date because he took her to the Cheesecake Factory. That led to a story from Sharpe about how he handled taking women out his rookie year in Denver when cash was still tight.
“I don’t even want to tell you this story,” Sharpe began.
He proceeded to explain how he was only making about $64,000 that year as the 380th overall pick, and couldn’t afford a life of luxury yet. His rent and car payment were about $1,000 combined and he sent money home for his family as well. But he decided to take his girlfriend out on a nice date anyway.
“I’m going to deny myself something to get herself a nice little meal,” Sharpe said. “I’m not going to get what I would normally get. I’m going to go a little down, just in case she goes up.”
The girlfriend piped up to ask Sharpe “What goes with lobster,” and that’s when it was game over.
“I said condoms because if you order that, we’re gonna have sex tonight,” Sharpe chortled. “Needless to say, she didn’t order that, and I never saw her again.”

The evolution of Johnson’s response as he realizes where the story is going is priceless.
“I was supposed to take that to my grave,” Sharpe concluded.
These two seem to bring the best out of one another. Nightcap is nearing 200,000 YouTube subscribers less than two months after its launch.
The show actually does feature solid football chatter, but it goes viral for the insane tales its hosts tell.
Last week, Sharpe went viral for a separate breakup story over a woman passing gas near him.
It’s hard to say where the show will take us next. And we say that in the most positive way possible.
