NFL quarterbacks are sometimes annoyed with the media, so watching one drill moving cardboard cutouts of a reporter with footballs is pretty funny. That’s what happened when Eagles’ quarterback Carson Wentz went on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football live from Super Bowl Week Thursday. GMFB hosts Kyle Brandt and Peter Schrager spoke to Wentz about his love for hunting, and then set up a “hunting ground” with “some wildlife” for him. The wildlife turned out to be people walking with giant cardboard cutouts of Schrager’s face:

“Trust me, these are terrifying animals,” Brandt says. “These are not bucks or pheasants or anything.”

Wentz then asks “Do I need to run away?” and Brandt goes, “No, you’re going to put them down.” That’s exactly what Wentz does with his first shot, nailing the first moving cutout of Schrager right in the eye. He misses the second and third shots, but runs up (after Brandt’s encouragement to “go knife the thing!”) to retrieve his first ball and hits the second cutout from closer range. Not bad shooting at all.

Even though it wasn’t Schrager behind there (and Wentz doesn’t have any particular reason to dislike Schrager, to our knowledge), it may have felt pretty good for him to be able to drill giant cutouts of a reporter. There are probably a lot of NFL quarterbacks who would like to do that at one time or another. Funny stuff all around here, and props to Wentz for going along with it. Maybe “reporter hunting” can be a skills showdown event at the next Pro Bowl?
