NFL.com’s Gil Brandt had quite the harrowing experience driving in Montana Thursday. Brandt tweeted that he and his wife Sara were driving to Billings to visit a friend, and that they got shot at after missing their exit and turning around at the next exit:
True story. Sara and I were driving to see a friend in Billings just now, missed our turnoff and turned around at the next exit where someone shot at us. Bullet comes through windshield and just misses Sara. Waiting on police. So, how's your day going?

Brandt later shared a photo of himself with the police officers who came to investigate:
I want to thank officers Matt Frank (left) and Tony Nichols of the @BillingsPD for their assistance. We dodged a bullet today. https://t.co/Kdt1h28fVE pic.twitter.com/fM4xy5DvG6

That’s quite the story from Brandt, who was a long-time personnel executive with the Rams (1955-57), 49ers (58-59) and Cowboys (60-88) before heading into the media world, where he’s been a key contributor to NFL.com and to selecting All-America teams and players invited to the NFL draft. He was inducted into the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor last year and selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year. And on that front, he had some much better news to share as well Thursday:
In other news, had to send back my gold jacket for re-sizing earlier today. I've lost about 20 pounds since they first measured me back in February.

It’s good to hear that Brandt and his wife are okay.
