The Bally Sports app was down for seemingly everybody on a Wednesday night that featured NBA and NHL games being shown — or, that were supposed to be shown — on the regional sports network.
We tried it out on the Bally Sports Roku app for the Los Angeles Clippers’ broadcast for their game vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves, and were met with constantly slow loading that ultimately resulted in various error messages over the course of 30 minutes (it did make us have to watch video advertisements on multiple tries, at least!). Finally, the app began working… just in time for the postgame show.
And we tried that out after seeing a significant amount of social media users reporting that the app was down. Overall, it seems that the app crashed for roughly an hour, and in crucial points of some of the games.
This app (and RSN as a whole) has received plenty of criticism even when it’s actually working.
Here’s a sampling of how Twitter users reacted to the Bally Sports app being down:

The @BallySports app is legit trash. It never works, and the quality is terrible. I can’t believe they couldn’t reach an agreement with YouTube TV – they shouldn’t be asking for big contracts from TV companies with this garbage. Can’t watch the #CBJ game. @BallySportsCBUS pic.twitter.com/GWOozvAQ5O

The Pelicans need to put the Bally Sports App on the injury report because that think is always a gametime decision and it's usually out.

Anyone else’s Bally Sports app just die on them all of a sudden? Error in the HTTP response? App working about as well as the Wolves defense tonight.

The best part about the Bally Sports app is when it makes you watch an ad before telling you you’re not logged in, then makes you watch another ad before saying “our bad the stream is broken.”
In other news, anyone know the score of the Pelicans game?
