Note: World Cup entries on the week’s list also include the network’s pre-match coverage at the starting 30 minutes of each respective match telecast time window.

ESPN’s final year of U.S. Open golf coverage went out with a whimper, mostly due to the absence of Tiger Woods. In the late afternoon/early evening segments, Thursday’s first round (1.875 million viewers) and Friday’s second round (1.621 million) were down 15 percent (2.21 million) and down 34 percent (2.458 million), respectively, from year-ago levels.

Despite leading out of the Argentina/Bosnia-Herzegovina World Cup soccer match (4.204 million from 5:30 p.m. to 8:01 p.m.), ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball” featuring the L.A. Angels at Atlanta Braves (1.413 million) was off by 3 percent from the comparable game a year ago (San Francisco/Atlanta, 1.462 million on 6/16/13) which was also televised opposite Game 5 of the NBA Finals on ABC.
