Vin Diesel and Tony Gonzalez, together at last.
In news you definitely were not expecting when you woke up this morning, it has been announced that former NFL tight end and current CBS Sports analyst Tony Gonzalez has joined the cast of “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.”
Starring Vin Diesel, the film is the second sequel to 2002’s “xXx” and marks Diesel’s return to the role that helped make him an action star.
Joining Diesel and Gonzalez in the cast is Samuel L. Jackson, Donnie Yen, Deepika Padukone and Nina Dobrev.
This is quite the big stage for Gonzalez to make his feature film debut. The tight end does have a little bit of acting experience under his belt, however, with a 2010 appearance on One Tree Hill, a 2014 appearance on NCIS as well as hosting duties on the reality TV show You Can’t Like Your Elbow and regular appearances on morning and NFL-related shows.
If you’re looking for a reason as to why the former NFL star got the gig, he’s currently repped by CAA, which also reps Diesel.
