Everything old is new again, and that’s true when it comes to the NBA Finals. Filmmaker Karl Lunz recut Bob Costas’ NBA on NBC intro from Game 7 of the 1994 NBA Finals (where the Houston Rockets defeated the New York Knicks) with modern footage to set up Sunday’s Golden State Warriors-Cleveland Cavaliers Game 7:

It’s amazing how well this fits, but maybe that’s just proof of how generic most pre-Game 7 intros are. The two stars may have been Hakeem Olajuwon and Patrick Ewing then, but it works just as well for LeBron James and Steph Curry. This provides an entertaining trip back in time, and another opportunity for fans to hear John Tesh’s famed NBA on NBC “Roundball Rock” theme. Nicely done.
