So when Russo had Barry on his SiriusXM program to talk about how the Warriors win record would be made empty if they lost in the playoffs, Barry defended the team and the accomplishment. And then things escalated and escalated from there. Come for the argument about the Warriors, stay for Russo’s reaction when Barry says he’d start an NBA team with Wilt Chamberlain instead of Michael Jordan.
It’s never fun to see someone pull out the “you didn’t play so how would you know” card like Barry did, but it’s hard not to see his side in this. In fact, come to think of it, maybe both guys are right? Maybe it’s true that the Warriors and their 73 wins would be a hollow achievement without a title to back it up… but at the same time, it’s a hugely impressive accomplishment that nobody can take away from them.
Can that be possible? Do the rules of sports talk radio allow that? CAN’T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG WHEN IT COMES TO DEBATING THE VALUE OF REGULAR SEASON WIN TOTALS!
