Last season when Leicester City was in the midst of what would become an unlikely championship season in the English Premier League, BBC Sport Match of the Day host Gary Lineker was rather skeptical of the Foxes’ chances to win the title. After Leicester City’s win over Chelsea last December, Lineker was so confident that he made a rather bold promise on Twitter:
YES! If Leicester win the @premierleague I'll do the first MOTD of next season in just my undies.
— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) December 14, 2015
And as it became clear that Leicester City was going to win, there were people who wondered if Lineker would back out, but he said a promise was a promise and he would fulfill his pledge on the season premiere of Match of the Day. Well, the season premiere of the venerable MOTD program aired on the BBC on Saturday and as promised, Lineker did open the show in his undies and remained that way for the entire first segment of the show:

While it wasn’t as scary as it could have been seeing a 55 year old man in his skivvies on live TV, Lineker said he had been working out since May to ensure that he didn’t look flabby in front of millions of BBC viewers. To his credit, Lineker said he never regretted making the promise saying it was all in fun.
Now hopefully he won’t make this same promise for Burnley or Crystal Palace otherwise this could be a rather painful annual tradition for viewers.
