For the last week of the regular season, treasured Los Angeles Dodgers voice Vin Scully was off the air due to a cold. Fans were hoping that Vin would be rested and ready to call the playoffs starting with the National League Division Series against the New York Mets.
But today, we learned that Scully underwent a medical procedure today. It’s not disclosed what that procedure was, but it will cause him to miss the entire postseason which includes the upcoming series with the Mets, the League Championship Series and if they advance beyond that, the World Series.
The Dodgers issued the following statement:
LOS ANGELES – Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully underwent a recommended medical procedure this morning and is resting comfortably.
On the advice of his doctors, Scully will miss the Dodgers’ postseason games to rest up and he’s looking forward to returning to the Dodgers for the 2016 season, his 67th with the Dodgers.
Everyone in the Dodgers organization wishes Vin the speediest of recoveries.
It’s sad to see that Vin won’t be able to call the postseason, but at age 87, the most important thing is for him to get well and we look forward to hearing his voice again for his last season in 2016.
It means that Charley Steiner and Rick Monday will have the call of the games throughout the time the Dodgers are in the postseason.
We wish Vin the fastest of recoveries and hope that he’ll be back good as ever in 2016.
