The relationship between ESPN and ABC’s Good Morning America is ready to flourish as the two Disney companies are taking their collaboration to another level.

ESPN announced Mike & Mike would be moving to New York right above the GMA studio and the two shows would share resources.  The same is true with a new live morning SportsCenter from 7-9 AM ET.  And now another ESPN personality is joining the morning show as a correspondent.

It was announced today that ESPN and SEC Network analyst Jesse Palmer would be joining the program as a special correspondent.

Of course, Palmer is the second college football and SEC Network analyst to be a part of the GMA family following in the footsteps of Tim Tebow, who is now hoping to make an NFL comeback with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Reed Bergman, President and CEO of Playbook Inc, who represents Palmer, spoke about the GMA deal with Awful Announcing.

“Jesse is such a genuine person who can really connect with middle America.  When you spend time with him, that telegenic personality is what really stands out.” Bergman said.  “This is something [the GMA deal] that when we looked at his career path in the industry was a great step to add another dimension to his current college football work with ESPN.”

“Jesse has the type of connection and personality where he could easily be doing this kind of work for the next 30 years,” Bergman said.

Palmer has had a nice career at ESPN as a college football analyst since joining the network in 2007.  He’s worked both in the studio and in the broadcast booth and last year was named as the new SEC Network lead analyst alongside the legendary Brent Musburger.  The former Florida Gators QB will continue in those roles in addition to his GMA duties for the upcoming season.  It will be interesting to see him spread his wings in the network morning show world as the ESPN-GMA partnership grows.
