On Wednesday night, Arizona Diamondbacks' TV voice Steve Berthiaume was opening the broadcast with partner Bob Brenly when he accidentally referred to first baseman Paul Goldschmidt as "Paul Goldsh-t".
Berthiaume is by no means the first to drop accidental vulgarity on a broadcast, and to his credit he continued on professionally as if nothing happened. Berthiaume left ESPN to take the Diamondbacks' TV play-by-play job last October.
As someone who essentially shares Goldschmidt's surname, I will say this kind of thing is not unexpected. It's an honest mistake, but hey, not everybody gets the name right in the same way. There's tons of ways to screw up Goldschmidt.
