The Wall Street Journal has conducted some “research” on an aspect of your Sunday experience that you may or may not have noticed yourself.  It seems that there is an inordinate amount of lulz floating around the Pregame desk at FOX.

The five hosts on Fox’s show—Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan and Jimmy Johnson—had a combined laughing time of two minutes, 22 seconds. That’s about 11.6% of the 20 minutes, 27 seconds they were shown on set together. Mr. Bradshaw was easily the laughing leader, going for about 92.4 seconds—including 2.5 seconds at the start of the show before anyone said anything.

I knew there was something a little funny about the FOX crew, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.  I kept on concluding that it was just Jimmy Johnson’s hair.  But while the bubbly schoolgirls are weighing in comparatively light on the analysis, we probably can’t be too surprised that these guys are having a good time on the job.  You try getting paid a thousand billion dollars to spend Sunday getting dressed to the nines and talking about football for 8 hours.  See if you can stop laughing all the way to the bank.  Even if you argue that money doesn’t equal happiness, I think we can all agree that football does, so this is a tough one.  The only reason you never see me crack a smile at my job is because it doesn’t involve sitting around a dozen monitors and watching the Red-Zone channel with 4 of my friends.  Sundays in fall, however, are a different story altogether.

I was surprised to see Cowher leading the charge for the CBS crew though.  Talk about a dark horse!  I thought we’d be more likely to see a straight-up scowl-off between Bill and Coach Gruden. Who you got?
