If you didn’t know, Friday was “Batman Day,” celebrating the Caped Crusader’s first comic book appearance in Detective Comics No. 27, which published with a cover date of May 1939.

MLB Network’s Heidi Watney got into the spirit of the occasion, donning a Batman mask to go with her black dress while hosting Quick Pitch Friday night.

OK, Watney also put on a Batman mask because Matt Harvey (“The Dark Knight”) was pitching on Friday. #HarveyDay! But wearing superhero attire fits with Quick Pitch‘s whole comic-book motif, doesn’t it?

Don’t feel bad if you didn’t know about Batman Day, by the way. You’re certainly excused if you thought Friday was Avengers Day, given the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is currently taking over virtually every movie theater near you. Even comic book geeks (including the one writing this post) were largely unaware of this supposed occasion. (That’s probably because a May 1939 cover date doesn’t mean Batman first hit newsstands on May 1. It’s actually very likely that it didn’t.)
