As the SEC Network’s launch is fast approaching, we’re learning more about its on-air talent. ESPN has tapped Peter Burns of Denver’s “The Press Box” sports talk show to become a studio host.

He’ll host the SEC Network’s signature studio show, “SEC Now” which will debut on August 14 which coincidentally is the same day that the channel launches nationwide. “SEC Now” will air nightly on SEC Network.

Burns co-hosted “The Press Box” since July 2013, but is heading to Charlotte where SEC Network is based. We talked with Burns last year about “Press Box” (which airs on three radio stations and is streamed online at the Denver Post’s website) which will continue without Burns.

He tells the Post: “I’ll miss the Denver scene, but ESPN has provided me with an opportunity — national exposure — which I couldn’t turn down.”

Burns will be joined by Maria Taylor as they will be the co-hosts of “SEC Now.”

He joins a staff that includes Joe Tessitore, Brent Musburger, Tim Tebow, Tom Hart, Dave Neal, Jesse Palmer, Tony Barnhart and Andre Ware.
