We can finally talk about CSN Houston in the past tense. On Thursday, District Judge Lynn Hughes removed the final delay that was in place against the launch of Root Sports Houston. Comcast also agreed to let the launch of Root Sports Houston proceed while its appeal to recover a $100 million loan is processing through the system.

An official launch date for the networ hasn’t been announced yet, though rumors are circling that the launch date could be November 14th. CSN Houston’s programming schedule extends to November 16th, so that’s another presumptive launch date. It’s worth noting that four of the next seven Rockets games are on national TV, so even a late-November launch wouldn’t be crushing.

The new network will be co-owned by DirecTV and AT&T, with the Astros, Rockets, and Comcast all selling their stakes in the former CSN Houston. It will be available on those three providers at launch, while there’s no word yet on carriage by either Dish or Suddenlink.

Well Houston, you’ve finally reached the end of the line. Yes, some cable and satellite customers will be left out in the cold, but nowhere near as many as before during the CSN Houston chaos. If the Astros pull a 0.0 rating in 2015, it’ll actually be news this time around.
