The NHL has done a lot of silly things over the years. Though the numerous lockouts and the Guardians project come to mind as some of the league’s largest blunders, their angry letter to The Simpsons regarding Krusty the Clown and the Stanley Cup has to be a close contender.
In Season 9 of The Simpsons, which aired between 1997 and 1998, there’s an episode titled The Last Temptation of Krusty in which the clown is shown drinking from the Stanley Cup. He then immediately barfs in said Cup.
The clip above apparently inspired the NHL to send an angry letter, which Fox ignored.

Considering the NHL just endured the 1994-95 lockout, you’d think their priorities might lie in other places. Nah, that’d make too much sense.
