We hear the phrase “stick to sports” way too much when a sensitive social situation arises in this country or abroad. Most people just want to use sports as a getaway to escape the serious matters going on in the real world. But in this situation, the “stick to sports” mantra really should apply.

Nick Camino, a talk show host on Cleveland’s WTAM 1100 and sports anchor for WEWS Channel 5, decided that the Ebola scare in America isn’t already serious enough. With word of a person now suffering from Ebola being on a flight to Cleveland recently, he just had to go ahead and ratchet it up to another level.

In a since deleted tweet, Camino claimed he had a “source” who said the virus was airborne and that it was “just the beginning” (H/T to AA reader Matt for the screengrab)…

Yep, it’s all just a giant CDC plot to… I don’t know, eradicate humanity? If you don’t want to believe the CDC about how ebola is spread, how about the World Health Organization? Ebola is not spread through the air, no matter how many misinformed conspiracy theorists may think so. Who is this guy getting his information from – Chris Brown?

Unsurprisingly, more level-headed people were trying to talk him off the ledge…

And though Camino deleted his initial tweet about how his “source” said that the threat was “only beginning” he doubled down on stupid rhetoric by claiming he was “just being open-minded” and that you can “believe what you want.”

Stay open-minded, guys. Question everything you’re told. Incite panic through an anonymous source.

Nick – stick to sports and not spouting uninformed opinions regarding world health crisis. Even if you do more than that, just stick to talking about Johnny Football and LeBron. We’re begging you.
