The Sports Emmys were handed out on Tuesday night and there were the usual winners like Bob Costas winning the Bob Costas Outstanding Studio Host Award, NBC’s Sunday Night Football for Outstanding Live Series and HBO’s Real Sports for Outstanding Journalism.
TNT’s Charles Barkley won for Outstanding Sports Personality, Studio Analyst. So the Inside the NBA crew decided to help Barkley celebrate. Kenny Smith dumped champagne on Sir Charles and Shaquille O’Neal gave him a few head taps.

Other winners of the Sports Emmys included last year’s World Series on Fox for Outstanding Live Sports Special in an upset over the Olympics on NBC. Mike Emrick won his fourth consecutive Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality, Play-by-play. And Bill Raftery won Oustanding Sports Personality, Sports Event Analyst.
FS1 won the most Emmys of any network with 9 followed by sister network Fox with 7. HBO and NBC were tied with five while CBS and ESPN were tied with 4 each.
As for network groups, here’s how they broke down among the top four:
Fox Sports Media Group (Fox, FS1, FS2, FoxSports.com) — 18
NBC Sports Group (NBC, NBCSN, Golf Channel, NBCOlympics.com, NBC Universo, Telemundo) — 15
Turner Sports (TBS, TNT, truTV) — 9
ESPN (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Deportes) — 7
