Gregg Popovich is widely considered to be one of, if not the best coach in the NBA today. He’s made the playoffs every season he’s been with the Spurs, and has won at least 50 games every season except for 1998-99 when the season was shortened due to a lockout where they only played 50 games.
He’s also one of the hardest interviews in sports. Popovich is known for his quick, snarky sideline interviews as well as his quick press conferences. So after the Thunder knocked out the Spurs last night convincingly, Popovich was in his best form.
One reporter asked if Pop had any regrets about not going with a smaller lineup earlier, and it didn’t end well for him:
Another reporter said, “Rebounding has been an issue this series. Tonight again, it seemed like rebounding, the Thunder beat you to the boards tonight, as well.” To which Popovich replied, “That’s a correct statement.”
One last reporter was brave enough to ask Popovich what he said to Tim Duncan after the game, and it gave us this pretty funny exchange between the two:
Shoot your shot Mr. Journalist, shoot your shot. 😂 https://t.co/1eM4x5B5mI

It’s tough to see the Spurs go out the way that they did, especially with the careers of Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili up in the air. But that one constant of a Gregg Popovich press conference did not disappoint, and hopefully we have plenty more of those to look forward to in the future.
It’s probably not something that certain reporters will be looking forward to though, and it’s hard to blame them.
