Media outlets sometimes confuse teams with the same name, as we saw with CBC’s insistence that the NHL’s Florida Panthers were playing in the Super Bowl, and the latest to fall victim to that is Sports Illustrated. In a tweet promoting a video wondering if the Mets could edge the St. Louis Cardinals (@Cardinals) out of the MLB playoffs, @SINow instead tagged the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals (@AZCardinals). The Cardinals’ response was perfect, both snarking SI and everyone who’s already written their NFL season off after Sunday night’s opening loss to the Patriots:

Well played, Arizona, well played. As for SI, whoever’s on Twitter duty might want to be a little more careful which team they’re tagging, especially considering that the football Cardinals have their state right in their name (and are no longer also located in St. Louis).
