The Christmas season is usually a time of cheer.  A time where giving is better than receiving.  A time where people can put aside their differences to celebrate our sense of togetherness in the holiday spirit.

Except when you’re talking about Peyton Manning’s arm strength, that is.

Manning threw a couple very costly 4th Quarter interceptions in a Monday Night Football loss in Cincinnati.  One of which was a Pick 6 by corner Dre Kirkpatrick where Manning floated a wounded duck out into the flat that made Chad Pennington look like Brett Favre.

ESPN Radio host Jorge Sedano made an observation about Manning’s fleeting arm strength.  Someone @ mentioned NFL Network reporter Stacey Dales and she engaged Sedano in a Twitter War by defending Manning’s arm and, apparently, his honor.

Get the kettle corn out, here we go…

Dales deleted a couple weird tweets at the end of this Twitter War, but thanks to The Big Lead they’re saved for posterity so you can see the dramatically puzzling conclusion…

Holy moly.  Don’t talk bad about Peyton Manning on Twitter, or else Stacey Dales will come and find you.

As far as Twitter fights go, this is one of the most bizarre we’ve ever chronicled.  I don’t even know if this can be classified as a traditional “Twitter War” because Sedano really never asked for any of this and was always on the defensive.

First off, it’s extremely odd that an NFL Network reporter would attack what is a relatively benign comment about Peyton Manning’s arm strength so ferociously.  It’s not like Sedano was insulting Manning, he was making an observation.  An observation that a whole lot of other people were making, for the record.  Who cares if he’s never spent a week at Broncos training camp?  Sedano is a national sports talk radio host.  It’s not like he’s trying to be a troll or a contrarian here, either.  He’s qualified to have an opinion even though he doesn’t work for the shield.

Secondly, Dales makes it sound like Sedano is suddenly a horrible person for talking about Manning’s lack of velocity.  “Stick to your truth Sedano” may be one of my favorite veiled Twitter threats in some time.  I’m just glad for Mark Schlereth’s sake that he was smart enough to stay out of it.

Dales’ Twitter barrage came off like that Bayless Defender guy trying to fight anyone who besmirches the name of Skip Bayless.  Unless the Broncos are now writing her paychecks at NFL Network, we’re merely left to scratch our heads over this one.  We’re throwing this Twitter War out and calling it a no contest.
