In the top of the fourth inning of Thursday's game between the San Diego Padres and the Milwaukee Brewers, catcher Jonathan Lucroy took a Chase Headley foul ball to the groin, causing a long stoppage in play while Lucroy collected himself.
Padres analyst Mark Grant had some fun with it, as you can see near the end of the video.
Play-by-play man Dick Enberg, ever the veteran announcer, didn't laugh at Grant's "Mitch Kupchak" line (referring to the "cup check" Lucroy took after one in the family jewels). Enberg wonders, "Why are you asking me that" when Grant jokingly quizzes him to set up the punchline.
Swing and a miss.
Grant goes right into the Major League Baseball copyright disclaimer but can't hold it together. Let's hope for closure's sake that Grant explained the joke to Enberg when they went to commercial break and what Mitch Kupchak had to do with it all.
H/T Pete
