This Sunday is WWE SummerSlam, the highlight of the summer for all wrestling WWE fans since 1988. This year’s edition of the supercard looks like no exception – it’s a completely stacked card fitting of its place in history.

There are plenty of matches and possible confrontations that will go down this Sunday at the Staples Center that should get your blood pumping. A lot of questions will be answered once all the dust settles this Sunday night, and these are the five that should drag fans to the edge of their seat.

Will Brock Lesnar’s path of rage finally claim John Cena?

Since returning to WWE after WrestleMania 28, Brock Lesnar has been a buzzsaw, tearing through everyone put in front of him – except for John Cena, that is. And while Lesnar didn’t get the victory over Cena two years ago, he still beat him to a bloody pulp like no one has before. Lesnar has been on a tear ever since, taking out Triple H, Vince McMahon, CM Punk, Mark Henry, the Big Show, and most famously, the Undertaker at WrestleMania 30 this past April.

All that stands between Lesnar and the first WWE gold he’s tasted in over a decade is Cena, who has exhibited a previously unseen mean streak this year. Lesnar is out for revenge after losing his first WWE contest in eight years to Cena at Extreme Rules two years ago. Cena is looking to prove that his victory wasn’t a fluke. It all comes down to this.

Is there going to be anything left of Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose after their latest battle?

The two former Shield stablemates were supposed to battle at Money in the Bank, but Dean Ambrose was booted from the arena, later returning to incite a wild brawl with Seth Rollins. The conflict has only reached a boiling point since, and when they do finally square off, it’s going to be a violent affair.

I’m wondering whether or not one or both men will need to be scraped off the mat once this bout is over and done. With so much animosity between the two, and the intensity that both men bring inside the squared circle. there’s some serious potential for an absolutely amazing affair.

Can Roman Reigns make the leap without The Shield?

Roman Reigns is looking to make his mark on the WWE Universe without the help of his former stablemates in The Shield, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. Singles competition hasn’t gone too well for him since the breakout, as he’s failed in two attempts to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, What better way to make a statement by destroying the man who has been haunting him during and after those two title shots? Tearing through Randy Orton won’t be an easy task, but if anyone can do it, it’s Reigns.

Speaking of Orton, he’s been on a slide since losing his WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania to Daniel Bryan. How many more times can he fail to bring the gold back to The Authority before they decide to make a change? Obviously, beating Reigns won’t bring the title back home, but it would give Orton a nice claim towards getting a shot at the winner of the main event.

Is Brie Bella finally going to get her long-awaited payback on Stephanie McMahon?

The issues between Brie Bella and Stephanie McMahon really began a year ago, when McMahon and her husband, Triple H, started a crusade against Daniel Bryan, Brie’s then-fiancee, now-husband. But Brie herself didn’t get directly involved until after WrestleMania, when she quit WWE so that Bryan wouldn’t have to forfeit the title. Then the conflict between Brie and McMahon really took off, with Bella usually ending up on the wrong side of the situation.

Now, Brie has the most ideal opportunity she could ask for – a one-on-one match with McMahon. This is her opportunity to gain her vengeance for months of being treated like a lesser person. McMahon hasn’t had to receive many consequences for her actions over the course of her career, but Brie can dish some out at SummerSlam.

Why is Chris Jericho back this time?

Not even two months ago, Chris Jericho made his long-awaited return to WWE after a year away. He went after The Miz, who was also on hiatus, right away, but was then jumped by the Wyatt Family, leading to his match this Sunday with Bray Wyatt. But what are Jericho’s motivations for returning this time around? Is he seeking gold? Did the Wyatts sidetrack him from an unnamed target? Was The Miz the one he was really after? We still don’t know – but I think we’ll find out at SummerSlam.

SummerSlam takes place this Sunday at 8ET.  You can watch it as well as past SummerSlams and other WWE events on WWE Network.
