Wisconsin forward Nigel Hayes is apparently quite fixated on press conference stenographers. Last Friday, he trolled the stenographer with “cattywampus, onomatopoeia, and antidisestablishmentarianism,” saying “Well, the wonderful lady over there, I think her title is stenographer, yes, okay. And she does an amazing job of typing words, sometimes if words are not in her dictionary, maybe if I say soliloquy right now, she may have to work a little harder to type the word, or quandary, or zephyr, xylophone, things like that, that make her job really interesting.” This time around, though, it was Hayes that got burned. He tried to tell teammates he thought a stenographer at Wednesday’s press conference was beautiful, but didn’t realize his microphone was already on:

This isn’t even close to the most incriminating thing said on a hot mic recently, but it is embarrassing for Hayes. It’s notable that the stenographers also came prepared for him Wednesday, as this Madison.com video illustrates:

We’ll see if Hayes has any other stenographer-related hijinks as the tournament goes on.
