Former NFL linebacker and host of NBC’s Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge, Dhani Jones, will be part of the voluminous team that the Peacock is sending to Rio next week for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Jones will be sent to various venues as a reporter and also contribute to The Olympic Zone, a 30-minute nightly program that is aired by local NBC affiliates usually before the network’s primetime coverage.

Jones has been busy since leaving the National Football League. He’s written his own memoir, hosted “Dhani Tackles the Globe” for Travel Channel, done some work for NFL Network and hosts a show on Spike. Jones is also known for wearing bow ties and we’ll see if he’ll bring them out for the Olympics.

And during his playing career with the Giants, Bengals and Eagles, Jones would often appear on NFL Network or other networks in hopes of parlaying it into a career on television and he has made sure he isn’t pigeonholed into being the ex-jock analyst on TV.

Jones’ co-host on Spartan, Kyle Martino will be NBC’s soccer analyst in Rio.

The Olympics begins next week with soccer on NBCSN on Wednesday and then the Opening Ceremony on Friday on NBC. And you will see Jones throughout the 17 days of NBCUniversal’s coverage of the Olympics.
