Dancing With the Stars is a sequined reality dance competition show that is unusually dominated by athletes. And while the upcoming season's cast has yet to be announced, the show has already added a sports-related new co-host to Tom Bergeron: Fox Sports host and reporter Erin Andrews. ABC announced the addition of Andrews to DWTS today. The Big Lead first reported the story Saturday.

This new job for Andrews makes sense due to her hosting resume, not to mention her near-championship run on the show as a contestant during Season 10 in 2010. But it is an odd choice when considered that Andrews works for Fox and not ABC, where DWTS airs.

Her main responsibilities for Fox are major event coverage and college football studio hosting, neither of which are happening anytime soon with ESPN having the NBA Playoffs and NBC having the Stanley Cup. She will presumably cover random MLB games this spring but should be free during the week for dance hosting.

Apparently Fox Sports co-president Eric Shanks gave the deal his approval before it was signed, per the Hollywood Reporter.

Andrews' "Fox Sports responsibilities remain the top priority," read a statement from the network.

The news comes only two days after former co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet was abruptly not asked to return to the show.

Dancing with Andrews as co-host premieres on March 17.
