This summer, it was reported that MLB legend and notorious compulsive gambler/liar Pete Rose would be getting his own reality show on TLC.  Now, that reality show is becoming a reality (bwahaha) as the network has set a launch date for January 14th.  Pete Rose will join the illustrious list of great athletes like Chad Johnson, Terrell Owens, Hank Baskett, Lamar Odom, Kris Humphries, and Hulk Hogan as reality television "stars."  Details from the Hollywood Reporter

"TLC has set the premiere date for former baseball pro Pete Rose's new reality series, Pete Rose: Hits & Mrs.

Chronicling preparations for Rose and his fiancee, ex-Playboy model Kiana Kim, as they blend their families and prepare for wedded life, the six-part docu-series will launch on the cable network Monday, Jan. 14, at 10 p.m."

This is just going to be remarkably sad to watch.  I can imagine this show going for the voyeuristic low-grade humor and appeal of Honey Boo Boo, except without any moments that actually make you laugh.  Following a 71 year old former baseball player as he marries an ex-Playboy model does not strike me as entertaining in any way.  Where is there to go with Pete Rose's character development besides "regretful baseball great who can't get into the Baseball Hall of Fame and wishes he had a second chance"?

It's also one further step towards TLC cementing their place as the single worst network on television.  For the love of all that is holy, look at this television lineup:

-19 Kids and Counting
-My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding
-My Strange Addiction
-My Crazy Obsession
-Sister Wives
-Strange Sex
-Little People, Big World
-Toddlers & Tiaras
-Here Comes Honey Boo Boo
-Pete Rose: Hits & Mrs.

In comparison, maybe First Take isn't so bad after all…
