At least for the time being, YouTube TV subscribers will continue to have access to CBS and other Paramount channels.

Late Wednesday night, both YouTube TV and Paramount issued statements saying that, due to ongoing unsuccessful negotiations between the two parties, YouTube TV customers could lose Paramount channels as early as Thursday.

On Thursday night, though, that changed. YouTube TV issued a statement on its X (formerly Twitter) saying that “a short-term extension” had been reached.

“An update for our members: We’ve reached a short-term extension with Paramount to keep their content on YouTube TV. Subscribers continue to have access to Paramount channels, including CBS. We appreciate your patience as we continue to negotiate on your behalf.”

The link in the post takes readers to a site where a slightly larger, yet similar, statement is made. That statement includes, “We also value Paramount’s partnership and willingness to work towards an agreement.”

Naturally, there’s one follow-up. How long is this “short-term” agreement in place? The Team YouTube X account replied to one person who brought up March Madness.

“We’ll share more updates as we have them. Thanks for your patience,” was the response.

Events like the NCAA Basketball Tournament in March and The Masters in April are covered by CBS. Hopefully a long-term solution will be reached by then. Short of that, we can hope that the current extension covers those events.

Stay tuned for further updates.
