Less than two months after announcing it had purchased AAA, WWE ran its first co-branded show with the Mexico-based lucha libre promotion.
And all indications are that Worlds Collide was a massive success — and not just because of Mr. Iguana’s star-making performance.

According to a release from WWE, Worlds Collide set a record for the largest live audience for a YouTube broadcast in the company’s history, attracting more than 4.1 million viewers in its first 24 hours. The showcase featuring talent from both AAA and WWE peaked during the main event AAA Mega Championship match between El Hijo del Vikingo and Chad Gable with 764,389 live concurrent viewers across the WWE and WWE Espańol YouTube channels.
Taking place at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, ahead of WWE’s Money In The Bank premium live event, Worlds Collide marked AAA’s first show under the WWE banner. The TKO-owned company first announced its purchase of the lucha libre promotion in partnership with Mexico-based sports and entertainment holding company Fillip ahead of WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas this past April.
While WWE’s purchase of AAA isn’t expected to be finalized until the third quarter of 2025, Saturday’s show provided a glimpse into how the two pro wrestling promotions could operate together moving forward. In addition to WWE stars wrestling AAA stars at Worlds Collide, an angle that was shot during the show led to WWE star Dominik Mysterio defending his Intercontinental Championship against AAA’s Octagón Jr. at Money In The Bank later in the night.
Moving forward, it will be interesting to see how the two companies continue to collaborate. That includes at AAA’s biggest show of the year Triplemanía Regia III, which is scheduled to take place this coming Sunday in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
